baby watermelon

foodieswatermelon

i bought the cutest little watermelon the other day, and it inspired me to have a photoshoot. i have been kicking around the idea of paying someone for an almost foodies logo and header design. my friend reminded me about my old school doodle and the knife. don’t think i am ready to outsource yet.

this teeny watermelon was yellow like a male goldfinch on the inside, and it was sweeter than a [insert something super sweet here]. i am not a photo pro, and can’t figure out why my photos look awful whenever i shoot something orange or yellow. so for that reason, i will not show you the inside of this little gem.

okay, i guess this one isn’t totally awful. i want you to be able to see the sweet yellow goodness:

mmm. like a springtime daffodil that you can eat. right? maybe. i still like the straight up pink watermelon the best. maybe it’s the color. and i love eating it with cantaloupe. the colors and textures are amazing together. i will be sure to get some photos of that afternoon snack under the fluorescent lights in my cubicle. are you taking advantage of melon season? have you had a honeydew yet? i tried a sample, and was not impressed. think i might take a chance on a whole melon this week. oh how i love this time of year!

  • I’ve had some melon epiphanies lately. The cantaloupe I picked up at the Central Avenue farmer’s market last week was to die for … dripping with juice, extremely fragrant with a toothsome flesh. I also recently had a Santa Claus melon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus_melon) and I have to say, they put honeydews to shame!

hon, you take good photos, don’t doubt your skills! plus if the colors are off a bit you can always do it up in pshop. :)

  • That watermelon looks simply delicious! I really liked your sign “Almost Foodies” Very nice!

Lately, I have given a lot of thought to having someone create a new custom blog template. I really enjoy doing this but, don’t necessarily have the technical skill to make a site pop with color. So, you are not alone!

  • hi jess. i have yet to try a santa claus melon. could this be my year?

malvina – thanks! i just got photoshop elements and it is wondeful! totally for dummies. i think it will help me a lot.

velva – thank you! i think you have a good looking blog. i like the white background, and your photos are colorful. a nice bright banner would be a great addition.
